The Zhaogong Ancestral Temple of the God of Wealth is located at Baiguantai, Zhaogong Mountain, Qingcheng, Dujiangyan City, Chengdu, China. It was first built in the Jin Dynasty and flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties. It inherits the incense of the Taoist Xuantan and worships the golden body of Zhao Gongming, the ancestor of the Chinese God of Wealth. It is the ancestral temple of Zhao Gongming, the ancestor of the Chinese God of Wealth, the birthplace of the Chinese God of Wealth culture, and a holy place for the Chinese people in the world to seek their roots and worship the God of Wealth. Zhaogong Mountain is the main peak of Qingcheng Mountain, with an altitude of 2,434 meters. It was once called Damian Mountain, Du Mountain, and "Chengdu Mountain". At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Ling founded Taoism in Qingcheng and worshipped Zhao Gongming, the great wizard of Damian Mountain, as the Marshal of Xuantan, in charge of the money and grain of the treasury and handling the daily affairs of the religion. Later, Zhao Gongming ascended to the sky on the Feishengtai and was deified. Under the order of the Emperor of Heaven, he commanded the four gods of wealth, namely, Zhaocai, Nabao, Juzhen, and Lishi, and became the first great god of wealth among the Chinese people. In order to commemorate Zhao Gongming, the believers built the Zhaogong Wealth God Ancestral Temple to worship him, and renamed Damian Mountain to Zhaogong Mountain. Zhaogong Mountain is not only the ancestral temple of Tianshi Dao and the main peak of Qingcheng Mountain, but also the mountain of the ancient Shu King and the mountain for worshiping Jiangdu since the pre-Qin period. There are many cultural and historical relics in the Ancestral Temple of the God of Wealth, and the culture is profound. In history, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times in wars, but the incense has always been continuous and endless. Especially after the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, the China Caidao Culture Development Promotion Association initiated and hosted the largest-scale reconstruction work in modern times. After more than ten years of efforts, the Taoist temple of the God of Wealth was restored, and the incense of the ancestral temple declined and revived, becoming a microcosm of the revival of Chinese traditional culture in this era.

After the An-Shi Rebellion, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang went to Sichuan and missed Yang Guifei day and night. "The Taoist priest Hong Du Ke from Linqiong can summon the soul with his sincerity. In order to express his gratitude to the emperor for his thoughts, he asked the Taoist priests to search diligently." According to the history of the Tang Dynasty, the Taoist priest Hong Du Ke from Linqiong was Yang Tongyou, a Taoist priest from Baiguantai, Zhaogong Mountain. Emperor Xuanzong of Tang stayed at Baiguantai and asked him to perform rituals to find Yang Guifei. The second half of the Song of Everlasting Regret records this event, which has become the most beautiful love poem through the ages. This place also became the historical place where the beautiful love story recorded in Bai Juyi's Song of Everlasting Regret took place.

After Emperor Xuanzong of Tang left, this place became a group of royal Taoist temples of the Tang Dynasty. In the first year of Taiji, Princess Yuzhen and Princess Jinhua of Tang also practiced and became Taoists here, and were buried on the side of the mountain after their death.

  • Sun Essence

"Classic of Mountains and Seas" records: Houyi shot down nine suns.

The "Records of Classics" of the Jin Dynasty stated: Zhao Gongming was the "essence of the sun", Houyi shot down the sun, and nine of his sons fell into Qingcheng.

The Records of Classical Literature states: In ancient times, ten suns appeared in the sky, and Houyi shot down nine of them. When the sun set in Qingcheng, he became the ghost king, causing illness and harming people. One day, he transformed into a human, riding a black tiger, holding a silver whip, and lived in seclusion in Shu. He was Zhao Gongming.

Zhao Gongming is the "Spirit of the Sun", which confirms the ancient Shu civilization and the worship of the sun. To this day, the huge Sun Spirit Stone next to the Ancestral Temple of the God of Wealth still seems to tell this ancient legend.

  • Great Wizard

Zhao Gongming transformed into a human being, and his earliest identity was the great wizard of the Shuo Luo Ghost Kingdom in Zhaogong Mountain, Qingcheng. The ancient Shu people believed that wizards could communicate with the Emperor of Heaven and the gods. The major rituals in the ancient Shu tribes, such as sacrificial ceremonies, praying for blessings, and relieving disasters, were all presided over by wizards. Many of the procedures and rituals of these rituals became Taoist rituals in the future.

During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Daoling founded Taoism in Sichuan. The True Immortals and Taoist Mirror and the Complete Biography of Immortals recorded that when Zhang Daoling founded the religion, he fought against the Eight Ghost Kings: At that time, there were eight ghost kings in Western Shu with Qingcheng Mountain as the center. Zhang Ling was supported by Zhao Gongming and founded Taoism based on and improved Wujiao.

  • Xuantan Marshal

The Daoist Canon records that after Zhang Daoling, the Heavenly Master, founded the religion, he appointed Zhao Gongming as the Protector of the Taoist Zhengyi Xuantan. "The Marshal's contribution is great, as he can drive away thunder and lightning, call the wind and rain, eliminate plague and malaria, and protect against diseases and disasters. As for public lawsuits and injustices, the gods can interpret them. Fair trade, seeking wealth, and harmony, as long as there are fair and just things that can be told to the gods, they will be satisfied if they pray. The Marshal receives the order from the Heavenly Gate, and he will serve the three realms, inspect the five directions, and supervise the nine states... Therefore, the duties of the Xuantan are very important..."

Because Zhao Gongming was good at governing the church, managing finances, and being fair and honest, he was loved and supported by the believers.

  • God of Wealth

The earliest record of the God of Wealth in Chinese folk history appears in "The Investiture of the Gods".

"The Investiture of the Gods" records: Zhao Gongming has boundless magical powers. After the Zhou Dynasty destroyed the Shang Dynasty, Taigong conferred Zhao Gongming the title of Jinlun Ruyi Zhengyi Longhu Xuantan Zhenjun, in charge of the four wealth gods of attracting wealth, accepting treasures, gathering treasures and making a profit.

"I have specially appointed you as the God of the Golden Wheel Ruyi Zhengyi Longhu Xuantan Zhenjun, and you are to lead the four righteous gods under you to welcome good fortune and blessings, and chase down fugitives and capture the fugitives. You should respect me. The God of Fortune: Xiao's nickname is Sheng; the God of Treasure: Cao's nickname is Bao; the Envoy of Treasures: Chen's nickname is Jiugong; the Immortal Official of Profit: Yao's nickname is Shaosi; Zhao Gongming and others, after hearing the title, kowtowed to express their gratitude and left the altar..."

At this point, Zhao Gongming, the God of Wealth, has become a household name. Wherever there are Chinese people in the world, there will be incense offerings to Zhao Gongming, the God of Wealth.

As the first temple of the God of Wealth in China and the birthplace of the God of Wealth culture, Zhaogong Ancestral Temple has been a place for spreading the incense of the God of Wealth and believing in the right way since its construction. Therefore, there has been a saying since ancient times that "all the temples of the God of Wealth in the world originated from Zhaogong Mountain (Feishengtai)", and there has been an endless stream of pilgrims from all generations.

In 2010, the "Fortune God Seeking Roots and Ancestor Worship" ceremony was held at the Zhaogong God of Wealth Temple on the eighth day of the sixth lunar month, initiated by the China Caidao Culture Development Promotion Association. The leaders of the Caidao culture of the Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan issued the "Zhaogong Mountain Declaration of the Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan", which triggered a positive response among Chinese people at home and abroad. Ma Ying-jeou, Lien Chan, Wang Jinping, and Sean Xiao of Taiwan successively wrote inscriptions. Ren Farong, President of the China Taoist Association, wrote the plaque of the Zhaogong God of Wealth Temple.

Since then, the China Wealth Culture Development Promotion Association has held a regular ceremony on the eighth day of the sixth lunar month every year to worship the God of Wealth on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, and launched a thousand temples to worship at Zhaogong Mountain. In the past ten years, hundreds of temples have organized believers to worship at the Zhaogong God of Wealth Temple. In particular, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese organize a large number of believers to worship at the Zhaogong Mountain God of Wealth Temple every year, which has effectively promoted the social, historical, cultural and religious exchanges and organic connections between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits and Chinese at home and abroad, and built a common history, culture and emotions.
